This is a public blog space for those of us living in the community of Aliquippa, PA. We will share our thoughts and feelings on what it means to be a part of this community, to do ministry here, and to find life in a place the world has largely written off as withered and dead.
Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, is located about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh along the Ohio River. Formerly home to a booming steel industry, the community struggles to survive and reinvent itself in a post-industrial society. But Aliquippa is exactly the kind of place where Jesus loves to build His Kingdom.
The contributors to the blog each have their own story, but all of their stories somehow involve Aliquippa. Several of us have moved into the community for the long-haul. Some of us have just lived here for the summer. But either way, Aliquippa has changed our lives.

streets in ALIQUIPPA are the 3 POLK STREETS,GRAND AVENUE,DIVISHON STREET,
FILMORE STREET ALLLLLLLL OF SHELFEALD TERRACE AND LOOK AT PLAN 12

I love the city of Aliquippa! I moved here at age 13 not knowing too many and to be honest not knowing what it really was to live with people of my same race. I have relocated to a few different areas out of state, and yet something keeps bringing me back here. They say Aliquippa is the kind of city that will bring your spirits down and will swallow you whole. At one time I believed that. Now that I am 30 I have seen way too much violence and drug activity in our community. I have buried more friends than I ever thought I would have to so early in my life. I know that everything happens for a reason but I am definately READY FOR CHANGE!!!! I know that Aliquippa has the potential to be a great city again, but before that we have to become a COMMUNITY! We must 1st believe in the Lord Our God and know that he is always our Savior! Only He can bring us forward! We have to begin to take responsibility for our children. We must be open-minded about the reality of our own lives and the downfall of our city. We must hold our heads high when we walk down the street and not be afraid. I am here for the long haul Quip and I am here for my people!!!!
